Nespresso Pixie Review – Magimix vs. Krups

The Nespresso Pixie is the newest and fastest yet espresso machine for the Nespresso capsule system. Nespresso machines use specific capsules produced by Nespresso (See Nespresso capsules range) to make espressos and other coffee drinks. This machine takes only 25 seconds to heat up, in order to make you the perfect espresso (40ml) or lungo (110ml). The two coffee buttons are already programmed to give you the perfect dosage for your choice of beverage.

It has a used capsule container that can hold 9-11 used capsules, so you don’t need to cleanup after every use, and a 0.7 liter water tank. This coffee machine also has a foldable cup support to allow usage of both tall latte glasses and short espresso cups. The Nespresso Pixie is not made directly for making cappuccinos as it doesn’t have a built-in milk frother, but you may purchase this machine bundled with the newest generation Nespresso Aeroccino 3 to make the perfect cappuccino!

If you’re familiar with Nespresso’s line of coffee machines, you may very well know that in Europe most of them are sold for Nespresso by both Krups and Magimix and are slightly different. An example can be seen in several of my posts, including the one for the very popular Nespresso CitiZ coffee machine. The main difference between the Krups and Magimix models is how the coffee outlet looks. You’ll see it clearly in the photos below.

As you can see the coffee outlet has a kind of a pointing down hose like shape. However, as you can see below in Pixie’s case, the Magimix and Krups models have totally different colors as well:

Nespresso Siemens TK70 Coffee Machine

Today I am writing about the prestigious Siemens TK70 Nespresso coffee machine. This coffee machine is designed for the Nespresso capsule system. So what are the cool features of this machine, besides its beautiful design?

Like all Nespresso coffee machines, it uses a 19 Bar pressure pump with the Thermoblock system, that helps produce that perfect espresso.
A programmable dosing system lets you set the exact amount of water for your espresso, so you always get the same dose and don’t have to press a button to stop the water flow.
A fully automatic capsule placing mechanism sets the capsule into its place and ejects it to a used capsules container. When the container is full of used capsules, the machine will indicate it so you know when to dispose of the capsules.
A visual control lets you know when the drip tray is full of water so you can clean up before it gets messy.
Keep the espresso cups warm just before making the drink with the warming plate for 5 espresso cups.
An AutoCappuccino steam nozzle lets you connect any milk container to the nozzle with a plastic hose, so that you can get the steamed milk straight to your cup without needing to use the steam nozzle manually.

All you have to do is register online and you can start ordering capsules online. It usually takes 2 days to arrive.

Delonghi Lattissima EN660/670/680 Nespresso Capsule System Coffee Machine Review

I wanted to tell you about this great looking Nespresso capsule system coffee maker from Delonghi – The Delonghi Lattissima EN660 / 670 / 680. This coffee maker includes a built in milk frothing system and a programmable sequence mechanism to produce a great tasting cappuccino in just a press of a button.

I haven’t seen this machine in action yet (will do asap), but I have talked to a friend who has tested these machines so here is what I can say. The idea is that you place your espresso cup or latt? mug in one of the two available heights. Then you insert the included milk container to the left of the cup and direct the milk hose to your cup. After pressing the programmable button, you will get the steamed milk directly to the cup followed by the delicious Nespresso coffee.

This sequence is done with two separate pumps, for the milk and water, which means they are heated in two different places in the machine. When you finish you remove the milk container and store it if you want, and return the milk hose to its original setting.

One last note, in case you don’t know this, you are limited to one of 12 flavors in capsules currently offered by Nespresso. Only Nespresso makes and markets capsules for Nespresso machines. This is not a big limitation really, since 12 is a nice variety, and Nespresso offers an easy way to order capsules from its website.
I know this machine is not for everyone pricewise, but it looks amazing, and there’s something about pressing a button and getting your coffee prepared without extra work that gets some of us excited!

Magimix Le Cube M220 vs. Krups xn5000 Le Cube Nespresso Capsule System Coffee Machines Review

As you can see from the names of these two slick Nespresso capsule system espresso makers, the Magimix Le Cube M220 and the Krups 5000 Le Cube series, they are very similar. In fact, at first sight they look identical. If you look a little more, you will see the minor product design differences. Their technical specification is almost the same however.

These are the advanced machines Nespresso offers for its capsules system espresso makers. The machines don’t have a built in or plug-and-play milk steaming / frothing tubes, but with the supplementary Aeroccino, you can get great tasting espresso from the Le Cube, and beautifully frothed milk from the Aeroccino.

Both makers include a programmable dosing system to control the exact amount of water that is injected through the capsule to make the perfect espresso drink. Simpler machines require you to press a button when you want to start, and then again when you want the water to stop flowing.

Another feature these machines have when comparing them to the simpler Magimix M100 and Krups xn2001 machines is a height adjustable cup tray, so you can prepare your coffee in espresso cups as well as latté glasses.
Another feature that exists in these machines is a special holding dock for 6 espresso cups (3 in each side of the machine), and in specific models of these machines the dock warms up your cup. This is really important for some espresso drinkers so they will appreciate this.

Once again we come across two machines that are hard to tell apart. The Magimix M200 and the Krups xn4050 coffee makers. These are both entry level Nespresso capsules system machines with built in milk steaming hoses. They are both beautiful so just decide which one looks better to you, if you’re set on getting one of them.

So the main addition to these machines is of course the milk steaming hose. You can use the built in hose to steams milk manually or install the plug-and-play AutoCappuccino accessory which will do the milk frothing for you, and all you have to do it connect a plastic hose to a milk container. While this is a great feature to install, cleanup can be a bit of a hassle, if all you want is a cup of cappuccino.

Both these machines do not include a dosing system in the basic model for controlling the amount of water in your coffee, so you will have to press a button to start and again to stop. You may find the “Auto” model of these machines or if you want this feature, check the Krups FNA2 Automatic Coffee Maker which is very similar but has a programmable dosing system included.

I have written about this before, and it is mainly my opinion so you may disagree, but personally in this level of machines, I like to invest my money in a great espresso machine such as the Magimix or Krups Le Cube, and take care of the milk steaming with the Aeroccino. It’s just that milk steaming with Thermoblock machines is not that awesome, and also, it’s a lot less cleanup for the coffee machine, and the Aeroccino is just easier to clean (think of cleaning a coffee pot).

Here are two Nespresso capsule system coffee machines, I wanted to tell you about, the Magimix M100 and the Krups xn2001 that differ slightly in their appearance but are very similar in terms of technical specification.

These machines are entry level espresso machines that use the Nespresso capsules to produce really smooth and rich flavored espresso drinks. They are simple to operate and are of a relatively lower price, but they are a great option to consider for your home or for a CEO’s office.

The machines are great if you want to use them for making espressos, but if you want drink like latté that require a tall glass, these machine are not the ideal option since there is just not much room for more than a 50ml cup. Also, the machines do not include a milk frothing hose, so if you plan on doing that, get an external accessory such as the cool Aeroccino.

On the other hand, no milk means the machine is very clean and with its built in used capsule disposal container (10 capsules) you have a machine that doesn’t leave a mess behind, and is very easy to clean, which makes it ideal for some people.

There is no dosing system here, so you will manually control how much water you want in your espresso by pressing a button to start the water and again to stop it. These makers use the Thermoblock system, so you will get your espressos with delicious flavor and aroma, because of the exactly right water pressure and temperature flowing through the capsules.
